Privacy Policy

Zack BookForge · last updated 24 August 2026

Zack BookForge turns PDFs and images into readable books on your phone. This policy sets out exactly what the app stores, where it stores it, and what it never does. It is written to be read rather than to be legally impressive.

The short version. Almost everything stays on your phone. You do not need an account to use the app. If you sign in, the only things that leave your device are your name and email address, a list of your PDFs, and — if you allow it — copies of your PDFs saved into your own Google Drive. Nothing is sold, and there is no advertising or tracking of any kind.

Using the app without an account

Reading, importing PDFs and images, making books, annotating, exporting and browsing Explore Books all work with no account. In that mode nothing about you is collected and nothing leaves your phone.

What is stored on your phone

All of it is inside the app's private storage. Uninstalling the app deletes all of it.

If you sign in with Google

Signing in is required only to take a book out of Explore Books, to submit a book, or to back up your PDFs. We receive your name, email address and profile picture from Google, and store them so the app can show who is signed in and attribute anything you publish.

WhatWhereWhy
Name, email, profile picture Google Firebase (Authentication and Firestore) To identify you across devices and attribute books you submit
A list of your PDFs — name, size, page count Firebase Firestore So your PDF shelf is there after a reinstall
Books you publish, and their covers Our server So other people can find and download them

Google Drive

If you allow it, the app copies each PDF you open into a folder called Zack BookForge in your own Google Drive, so your PDFs are still there after a reinstall.

Zack BookForge's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Books you publish

Submitting a book to Explore Books uploads that book's file and cover to our server and creates a public listing carrying the title, author, description, category and your display name. This is deliberate and visible: a published book is meant to be found. Ask us and we will remove it.

What we never do

Children

The app is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has given us information, write to the address below and it will be deleted.

Keeping your information

Account information is kept while your account exists. Published book listings stay until you or we remove them. Files in your Google Drive are yours and are kept until you delete them.

Deleting your data

In the app: open the menu, tap your name to reach Account, then Delete account. That removes your profile and the list of PDFs you have backed up, and disconnects BookForge from your Google account. Your read list is on the phone, so uninstalling removes it. To also remove the copies in your Drive, delete the Zack BookForge folder there, or use PDF Read & Edit → Restore and delete each file. To have published books taken down, email us.

You may also email zackdfrnt@gmail.com asking for everything to be deleted, and it will be, within 30 days.

Security

Traffic to our server and to Google's is encrypted in transit. Access to stored data is restricted by server-side security rules, so one account cannot read another's. No system is perfectly secure, and we do not claim otherwise — which is one of the reasons your documents are kept in your own Drive rather than ours.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it, and anything that materially affects you will be announced in the app before it takes effect.
